Recently retiring from a career in psychotherapy and clinical social work, Susan is now focusing primarily on her creative endeavors. Her interest in creating artwork began as a result of the influence of her father, who was a carpenter. Her initial attraction to glass as a medium was the visual effects created by the interaction of glass and light. Susan worked primarily in stained glass from 1978 until she fell in love with fused glass in 1999. Since then she has worked in her studio using a wide range of fused glass techniques. Of particular interest for her are working with inclusions in glass, reactions, and creating great finishes by hand polishing. Since 2000, Susan has taught fused glass in Austin, Texas and she will be teaching at various studios beginning in 2021.
