For beginners and experienced glass-workers alike, this full day’s class will teach you working with glass enamels, with the opportunity of using three different manufacturer’s products – Colorline; Glassline and Colors for Earth (preferred suppliers of Silo Gallery & Glass Studios).

In this class you will:

• Tryout three glass enamel paint suppliers products
  1. Color Line
  2. Glassline
  3. Colors for Earth

• Learn how the paints fire – including adverse interaction with other colors (if fired together);
• Learn how to determine the amount of color to apply.  By each manufacturer: what respective finish/color intensity is required using the fired reference panels in Silo’s Studio;
• Cappingvs. not capping;
• Design– Templates provided; there will be design options to choose from.  (Students can bring their own line drawingsand work from those if they prefer.)

Students will make two pieces (approx. 7” size). Line drawing options will be provided, but students may bring their own designs to work with if preferred. Students will receive:

• “Colors for Earth Sampler Kit” to take home
• Hand-outs detailing the three different products
• Choice of 6-line drawings to work with independently post class.

Glass enameling is something anyone can do with little to no home-studio facilities, as future home-worked enameled projects can be brought in to fire at Silo Glass. This is a fun way to enhance and provide additional detailing to fused glass projects. This is a great course for people looking for an entry-level class and hobby supplies.
